Science Dissemination Access

UFRGS Portas Abertas is the greatest "open doors" event at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). It's an opportunity for the community and students interested in the University to get to know the infrastructure, the opportunities, and the research conducted at UFRGS. The ResGen Initiative partnered with EduCiência, a project for Science Dissemination to Elementary and High School students, to offer a special One Health Edition of its "Fantastic Microscopic World" exposition at UFRGS Portas Abertas in 2025. Visitors were able to explore life in a whole different way, getting to see microscopic organisms of great importance in Health and Biotechnology, and also understanding the importance of Antimicrobial Resistance and how the ResGen Initiative is tackling this problem. We also offered Gram Stain workshops for visitors to identify bacterial species of interest in human health. We received more than 130 visitors in one morning. Samples used for exposition were kindly provided by researchers from the ResGen Initiative and the MaRe Network.
